Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills, QB - Fantasy Football News, Stats (2024)

Player Outlook

Allen has been the best quarterback in Fantasy Football for the past four seasons, but he's not our consensus No. 1 QB in 2024. This offseason the Bills lost Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis from their receiving corps and replaced them with Keon Coleman, Curtis Samuel, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. They also retained Joe Brady as their offensive coordinator. Under Brady, Allen averaged 2.5 fewer pass attempts and 18 fewer pass yards per game. That didn't matter last year, because Allen ran for 15 touchdowns, but we don't want to count on any QB repeating that type of outlier season. Allen is worthy of consideration after the first quarterback is selected in your Fantasy draft, but don't reach for him this year. He is only worth a Round 1 pick in leagues where you can start more than one quarterback.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Tweaking throwing motion

    Rotowire

Allen said Tuesday that he's working on improving his throwing motion this offseason, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.Allen noted that the changes have felt really good at times and not so good at others. He injured his right shoulder Week 6 last season but still managed to play every game for a fifth straight year, and he confirmed in late January that he wouldn't need surgery. Some of what he's working on this offseason is returning to his pre-injury mechanics after the shoulder discomfort led to a lower, wider motion in 2023. The other big change will come in his receiving corps, with Khalil Shakir the only wideout on the roster that's ever caught a pass from Allen. The Bills parted ways with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis this offseason and brought in Curtis Samuel, second-round pick Keon Coleman, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Chase Claypool and Mack Hollins. Meanwhile, Allen and offensive coordinator Joe Brady will have continuity at running back (James Cook, Ty Johnson), tight end (Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox) and along the offensive line (four of five starters returning).

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Scores thrice in crushing defeat

    Rotowire

Allen completed 26 of 39 pass attempts for 186 yards and a touchdown while rushing for 72 yards and two scores on 18 attempts in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Chiefs.Allen did everything in his power to lift the Bills past the Chiefs in the postseason contest, but a heartbreaking missed field goal capped off multiple follies that eventually cost Buffalo its season. Patrick Mahomes had the better passing performance out of the two (131.6 passer rating to Allen's 86.1), but Allen's gaudy rushing line gave him the upper hand in terms of fantasy scores. Allen could have had an even better statistical night had top wideout Stefon Diggs (3-21-0) not dropped an absolute howitzer that hit him in the hands deep in Kansas City territory late in Sunday's narrow loss. Allen will wrap up the 2023-24 campaign with 51 total touchdowns (44 in the regular season) and over 5,365 combined yards from scrimmage when you include his two big games in the playoffs.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Rides rollercoaster to Week 18 win

    Rotowire

Allen completed 30 of 38 pass attempts for 359 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions while rushing 15 times for 67 yards and losing a fumble in Sunday's 21-14 win over Miami.Fans watching Sunday Night Football were treated to the full Josh Allen Experience and all the ups and downs that came along the way to an eventual AFC East-clinching victory over the now No. 6 seed Dolphins. The gunslinging signal-caller threw two more interceptions to bring his season total up to 18 over 17 starts, though one of his picks Sunday turned out to be a savvy decision on a broken play on fourth down that resulted in the QB's second interception of the game but a net positive for Buffalo in terms of field position. Allen finishes the regular season with 4,306 yards, 29 touchdowns and 18 interceptions as a passer in addition to 111 attempts for 524 yards and an attention-grabbing 15 touchdowns as a rusher (surpassing his previous high of seven). The Bills' franchise quarterback will begin preparations to face a banged-up Steelers squad next Sunday in the opening round of the playoffs.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Full participant Wednesday

    Rotowire

Allen (neck/finger) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's estimated injury report.Allen had some soreness in his neck after Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots, but his full participation in Wednesday's walkthrough suggests he isn't in danger of sitting out this weekend's regular-season finale in Miami. His presence under center Sunday will be pivotal, as the Bills would win the AFC East with a victory but could miss the postseason altogether with a loss, depending on how things unfold in other Week 18 games. Since the Bills and Dolphins will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET in the final game of the regular season, Buffalo will already know where it stands in the playoff picture before the game begins.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Two total TDs in run-heavy win

    Rotowire

Allen completed seven of 15 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown while rushing eight times for 24 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-10 win over the Cowboys.Allen put the Bills up 14-0 with an 18-yard touchdown pass to James Cook in the second quarter, then extended Buffalo's advantage to 21-3 with a one-yard touchdown run 1:36 before halftime. The star quarterback came up short of 100 passing yards for the first time since the final game of the 2019 regular season, as Cook led the way with 211 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. Allen produced at least one touchdown each with his arm and legs in the same game for the ninth time this season, and he's up to 26 passing touchdowns and 11 rushing touchdowns heading into Saturday's road game against the Chargers.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Contrarian DFS Play

    Rotowire

I don't believe the Bills Week 14 win over the Chiefs was as much of a statement win as it was an introduction to the statement that is coming. I expect the Bills to win out behind their superstar QB, who is my top QB on the slate by a full two points this week. Allen is the clear top QB in Fantasy and the price gap between him and everyone else isn't big enough this week.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Comes up short vs. Burrow again

    Rotowire

Allen completed 26 of 38 pass attempts for 258 yards with one touchdown and one interception while adding eight rushes for 44 yards and another score in the Bills' 24-18 loss to the Bengals on Sunday night. He also threw a two-point conversion pass.Allen put together a solid stat line in his second loss to Joe Burrow and the Bengals in the 2023 calendar year, and he got off to an encouraging start by answering an early Cincinnati touchdown with a seven-play, 85-yard march that he capped off with a two-yard scoring run. However, the remainder of the first half was a non-starter for Buffalo's offense, with the team's remaining possessions prior to halftime resulting in a pair of punts, an interception and a drive that stalled at the Bengals' 38 leading into intermission. Allen was able to come back to lead the Bills to a field goal on the first possession of the second half, but he couldn't help facilitate any additional points until his 17-yard touchdown pass to Stefon Diggs with 3:32 remaining and ensuing two-point conversion toss to his star wideout. Allen saw his streak of games with multiple passing touchdowns snapped at five, but he's now recorded a rushing score in three straight contests heading into a Week 10 home matchup against the Broncos on Monday night, Nov. 13.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Returns to full practice

    Rotowire

Allen (right shoulder) practiced fully Thursday. After being deemed a non-participant Wednesday, Allen upgraded to full participation Thursday, which sets the stage for the QB to be available to start Sunday night's game against the Bengals in the absence of any setbacks. Friday's final injury report will confirm whether Allen heads into the weekend with a Week 9 injury designation or fully cleared to play.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Opens week with limited practice

    Rotowire

Allen will be a limited participant in practice Wednesday due to a right shoulder injury, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.Per Skurski, Allen hasn't suffered any setbacks in his recovery from the shoulder issue, which resulted in him appearing on injury reports both of the past two weeks. Allen was a full participant in every practice in those weeks, however, so his limited activity to begin Week 9 prep makes his status worth tracking as Sunday's game against the Bengals approaches. So long as Allen returns to full practice participation by Friday, he'll likely head into the weekend minus an injury designation. For his part, Allen told Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site that he's hoping to increase his practice activity Thursday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Three total TDs, two TOs in Week 7

    Rotowire

Allen completed 27 of 41 passes for 265 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 29-25 loss to New England. He also rushed seven times for 17 yards and a touchdown, lost a fumble and threw a two-point conversion.Allen was intercepted on Buffalo's first offensive play, and the Bills trailed 10-0 by the next time they got the ball. Buffalo took a 13-3 deficit into the locker room, but Allen cut into the lead with an eight-yard touchdown pass to James Cook. After New England extended its lead to 22-10, Allen answered again, finding Stefon Diggs for a 25-yard touchdown with 5:32 remaining in the fourth quarter. Allen appeared to throw a crucial interception in the end zone on the next drive but was bailed out as the Bills were granted a timeout called just before the snap. He eventually capped that drive with a go-ahead, one-yard rushing touchdown and threw a two-point conversion to Dawson Knox to take a 25-22 lead, but New England responded with a game-winning touchdown drive to drop Buffalo's record to 4-3 heading into Thursday's Week 8 home game against the Buccaneers. Allen has posted multiple passing touchdowns in three straight games.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Deemed limited Wednesday

    Rotowire

Allen (right shoulder) was listed as a limited participant in Wednesday's walk-through practice.Allen will have two more chances to increase his practice participation ahead of Sunday's game against the Patriots, but at this stage the quarterback is expected to be available this weekend. Per Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site, Allen said Wednesday that there's no concern with pain or mobility in his shoulder.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Set to participate in walk-through

    Rotowire

Allen (shoulder) will participate in Wednesday's walk-through practice, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports. The Bills will release their first Week 7 injury report later Wednesday, when it will be known whether Allen was listed as a full or limited participant. Head coach Sean McDermott previously suggested that the quarterback is considered day-to-day as Sunday's game against the Patriots approaches, but the expectation is that Allen will be ready to play this weekend. Allen gave way to backup Kyle Allen for two snaps during Sunday's win over the Giants, but he was quickly able to return to the contest.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Considered day-to-day

    Rotowire

Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Allen (shoulder) is considered day-to-day, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.Allen missed a couple snaps in Sunday night's Week 6 win over the Giants to be checked for a head injury but quickly returned after being cleared and finished 19-for-30 passing for a season-low 169 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Apparently the shoulder is the bigger concern (though perhaps only a minor one)following the game. He rushed just two times for 11 yards. Allen is expected to be out there Sunday against the Patriots.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Getting more tests on shoulder

    Rotowire

Allen will undergo further testing on his right shoulder Monday, but he's not believed to not be dealing with a serious injury, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.Allen briefly excited Sunday's 14-9 win over the Giants due to a potential head injury before being cleared to return. He still required X-rays on his shoulder after the game, but initial indications are that Allen hasn't suffered a major injury. Fantasy managers nonetheless will want to monitor the situation closely, with an update likely to come later Monday or Tuesday once Allen's testing is complete. The Bills have a road matchup with the Patriots on Sunday.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Big numbers in London

    Rotowire

Allen completed 27 of 40 passes for 359 yards and two touchdowns with one interception in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Jaguars. He added 14 rushing yards and a TD on four carries. The Bills came out flat to begin the game, having only landed in London a little more than 48 hours before kickoff, but Allen hit Stefon Diggs late in the second quarter to avoid a first-half shutout and then piled up the production late as Buffalo tried in vain to mount a comeback. The quarterback has delivered 13 touchdowns over the last four games -- 10 through the air, three on the ground -- and he figures to post big numbers again in Week 6 against the struggling Giants.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Nearly perfect in big win

    Rotowire

Allen completed 21 of 25 passes for 320 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills' 48-20 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 17 yards and another score.Allen's final numbers underscore how efficient the red-hot signal-caller was against the previously undefeated Dolphins, as he led a game plan that was aggressive right out of the gate. He got Buffalo on the board first via an 18-yard touchdown dart to Gabe Davis to cap off the opening drive, and Allen went on to add 11- and 55-yard scoring tosses to Stefon Diggs before halftime, the latter of which gave the Bills a two-touchdown lead. Allen would add a 13-yard strike to Diggs late in the third quarter and take it in himself from 11 yards out on the first play of the fourth to put an exclamation point on the statement divisional win. After a three-interception night Week 1 against the Jets, Allen has roared back to post an 8:1 TD:INT while completing 76.6 percent of his passes over the next three games. Allen and the Bills now will look to keep their offense clicking across the pond in a Week 5 London showdown against the Jaguars.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Top DFS Play

    Rotowire

That was a brutal performance and a brutal loss for Allen and the Bills in Week 1. I fully expect a violent bounce back against the Raiders in Week 2. This was one of the worst defenses against the pass in 2022 and I didn't see anything in Week 1 that makes me think that has changed. Diggs is the obvious stacking partner with Allen, but I expect a boom from Gabe Davis and James Cook as well.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Preseason not over

    Rotowire

Coach Sean McDermott said Thursday that Allen and the starters will play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. The first unit had a terrible outing in Saturday's preseason loss to the Steelers, so we imagine the coaching staff would like to see some more positive vibes heading into a tough Week 1 matchup against the Jets. Expect Allen's time to still be limited, while those rostering him will hope for a drama-free outing at a time when most of the other NFL starters will be taking a seat.

  • Bills' Josh Allen: Works three series

    Rotowire

Allen completed seven of 10 passes for 64 yards, no touchdowns and no interceptions in Saturday's 27-15 preseason loss to the Steelers. He rushed the ball once for minus-6 yards.Allen played three offensive series in his 2023 preseason debut, and he led one sustained drive with a few lengthy completions to Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Otherwise, it was a forgettable performance for the veteran quarterback. Of course, given Allen's track record, this performance is hardly a concern, and his focus likely will turn to a Week 1 matchup against the Jets.
